We Are Re-Writing Our Story…We Can Help You Rewrite Yours Too

kimAre you dreading 2015 ending  and starting a new year not reaching your goal of losing weight, starting exercising, eating better, just overall taking care of yourself? That is how I started 2015. But this has changed. In May Steve and I started on a journey to take better care of ourselves. Is it always easy…No. Do we want to do it every day…No. Are we glad we decided to start this journey…Absolutely.

You may not know at 27 I had to have a total hysterectomy and needed hormone replacement therapy. What made this process a little more difficult was the revolving door of doctors either through their transfer or our transfer.  It’s just part of the military life. And since medicine is just practice they all had a different opinion of what that replacement therapy should look like. That was long before the Internet and it being easy to do my own research. So I was on a constant roller coaster hormonally. When it really seemed to take a toll on my body was after we transferred to Orlando and my doctor told me that the latest research showed that it was medically dangerous to be on replacement therapy for so long, and that it was her recommendation to go off of it. I did a little research of my own and prayed about it. At my next appointment I agreed. Upon moving to Orlando the only medication I was taking was the replacement therapy. It was not until recently that I put all of the pieces together, and I have no idea if they are pieces that go together or just a coincidence.

Since that time I have gained a lot of weight, even though nothing else in my life changed. I am now on many different medications, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and medications for other problems I have developed. It had become very difficult for me to work out because of problems with my blood pressure. My brain tells my body that blood pressure is either too low or too high when in fact it is normal and it compensates when there is no need to and I feel like I’m going to pass out. This happens frequently and with no warning…marking working out difficult. Somewhere along the way I’ve developed an intolerance to gluten which took a good bit of dealing with miserable symptoms to figure that out. I’m also working with a sleep specialist to deal with sleep apnea.

I decided that I needed to make a change and Steve and I together are making those changes. It is easier for Steve then for me because of my health issues but I am determined to keep pushing, so I can continue losing so far I’ve lost not quite 20 pounds and 16 inches.  Steve has lost 36 pounds and still going strong. Are there days I want to give up and throw in the towel? Definitely I’m not going to lie to you. However, I have a fantastic support system. And maybe that is just the thing that you need that too. If you would like to join us and work together to we’d love that.

Why do I, someone who usually doesn’t share too much personal stuff tell you this? Because I want to let you know no matter how bad you are feeling mentally, physically, or both there is hope to turn it around and start feeling better. You just have to make the decision to start. Just start from where you are at, take one day at a time, and reach out for help and support.

Does it cost something…sure it does. Is it worth it…absolutely! We gave up eating out. That was definitely worth it. We always overate, and felt terrible afterwards anyway. Do you have to give up eating out…No. We can work with you to craft a plan to fit your lifestyle. Just send us a message here or to our email at FitTeamStarry@gmail. Let’s make 2016 our best year yet together!
